The Cigna HealthCare indemnity plan allows plan participants to visit any medical care practitioner. Indemnity plan participants don't choose a primary care physician (PCP) to coordinate their care and treatment. They also don't need a referral to see a specialist.

Your patients with this Cigna coverage pay the cost of the visit and, typically, are responsible for filing the claim for reimbursement. They’re also responsible for obtaining precertification for hospital admissions.

In addition to their indemnity plan, your patients with this coverage may also have a Cigna Choice Fund® –an employer– or employee-funded account. They may use that account to pay for qualified health care expenses not covered by their medical plan.
